Connection Software for Windows 95
Internet Explorer 3.02a

This page is to help OVIS users install the connection software for Microsoft Internet Explorer. The six disk set includes Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.02a, Internet Mail, and Internet News.

Software Installation and Configuration

1. Insert disk 1 into your floppy drive.
2. Choose Start, Run, and type a:setup (or b:setup).
3. After reading the Internet Explorer License Agreement, click I Accept.
4. Choose the default settings to complete the software installations. I tried to make the Wizard as user friendly as possible.

Setting Up Mail

1. Make sure you are connected to OVIS.
2. Open the Internet Mail program by clicking Start, then Programs, followed by Internet Mail.
3. Change the default E-mail Address entry from @ovis.net to your correct e-mail address, etc. username@ovis.net.
4. The Incoming and Outgoing Mail Server information of ns1.ovis.net should be correct. If it isn’t then enter ns1.ovis.net for both entries. Click Next to advance to the next step.
5. Make sure Logon Using: is selected. Enter your username for Account Name and your OVIS assigned password for Password.
6. Click Next to complete the Mail setup.

Setting up News

1. Make sure you are connected to OVIS.
2. Open the Internet News program by clicking Start, then Programs, followed by Internet News.
3. Change the default E-mail Address entry from @ovis.net to your correct e-mail address, etc. username@ovis.net
4. The News Server entry should automatically be filled in with news.ovis.net. Do NOT check My news server requires me to logon.
5. Click Next to complete the News setup.
