AMD DURON Microprocessors are intended to be "Entry Level Microprocessors!" They operate at a clock speed of 100MHz and perform faster than a Celeron.

 

 

Celeron Microprocessors;
have become very popular as indicated by the advertisements of major manufacturers because of the lower cost. The Intel Celeron Microprocessors are intended to be "Entry Level Microprocessors"! The newer Celeron microprocessors operate at a clock speed of 100 MHz, have 256K of cache memory, and a reduced number of instruction sets. Because of these features, the Celeron Microprocessors are described as "Gutted-Out Pentium II's. When comparing some AMD and Pentium Microprocessors to the Celeron microprocessors, they operate at a higher clock speed of  133 Mhz, have up to 512K of cache memory, and a larger number of instruction sets. Consumers concerned with speed and overall performance would do better with an AMD or Intel Pentium IV microprocessor!

 

REMINDER:

C & D Electronics' motherboards are more versatile and more upgradeable than the computers at the Mall.! The ATX motherboard used for Intel microprocessors can support both Celeron and Pentium III Coppermine (133MHz) microprocessors. The ATX motherboard used for AMD microprocessors can support both DURON and XP  microprocessors. These motherboards provide you the versatility when purchasing an entry level microprocessor to upgrade to a faster microprocessor at a later date with minimal expense. However, computers from the Mall cannot be upgraded this easily, resulting in you being required to purchase a new computer! Also, not all Mall computers sold today have
ATA133 Mbs data transfer technology. Ours do!!
