Another Princess Story

Once upon a time in heaven there was a sweet little soul that loved everyone and everyone loved back. The little soul would run around heaven all day, begging one angel after another to tell it a story. The little soul loved stories and would do any mundane task which might be rewarded by the tale of happiness and love. The little soul most loved the stories about princesses who lived happily ever after with their handsome princes.

It's favorite story teller was the Holy Mother, Mary, whom the little soul would help decade after decade to watch over the children of the world. You see, the Holy Mother had watched while her own child had been crucified and took upon Herself the burden of protecting the rest of the children. She really didn't need any help, but the little soul loved being with Her so much that the Holy Lady let it come as often as it wanted until it too learned the value of loving children.

One day the little soul asked Mother Mary why it had not yet been to earth and when would it get to go. Mary informed it that the Father of the world did not yet feel it was time for the little soul to enter the world below. She explained that maybe the Father just wanted to keep it in heaven for the brightness that it brought to all of the inhabitants of Paradise. The little soul accepted the Father's design but still felt drawn to the earth. It felt that if it could only get closer that it might truly be able to help the Holy Mother's earth children.

The longing grew so intense that the little soul grew saddened and stopped asking the angels for stories. It would sit by the bubbling brook for years on end wondering when it would get it's turn to go into the world. The angels took their concerns to the Father of the world and pleaded for Him to let the little soul go to earth. They promised to watch over it and try to keep it safe.

So the Father summoned the little soul to come to Him, and He had a Father to soul talk with the little tyke. He told it that it's sadness had saddened all of heaven and that the angel's pleas had convinced Him to allow the little soul to have it's time on the earth. He said, "Sweet Soul, when you go into the world you will remember nothing of Heaven and those who love you here. You will begin from the beginning and you must strive to become what your heart here longs to be. Because you are so tender, I will implant within your heart the desire to help children, and you will retain your sweet nature. Otherwise, you will have no memory of your life here. Do you still wish to go?"

"Dearest Father of the world," whispered the little soul, "I love the Holy Mother very much, and I think that I might lighten her load if I am able to be closer to the children of the world. I praise you for your kindness to me, and if I can do any little thing for you while I am in the world, please lay it upon my heart to do so."

The next moment the earth was blessed with the birth of a little baby girl. None of her Earth family were aware of her special gifts from the heavenly Father. But all of heaven rejoiced for it knew that the little soul had finally had it's heart's desire. The angels and the Holy Mother watched her grow into a precious little girl, who, not unlike the fairy tales they had spun for her while she was in Heaven, was a child raised without a mother's comforting arms. But the child loved her earth father very much and was always very involved with children, caring for them and teaching them. She was loved by all of Earth's children who knew her.

The angels again went to the Father of the world and pleaded for him to remember how much the little soul had loved the stories of princesses and princes. They suggested that the little girl become a princess. But the Father reminded them that being a princess is not always as it is in fairy tales and that this was a real girl. But the angels begged the Father by saying how many more children she could reach if only she had the status of princess on the earth. Finally, the Father relented and arranged for the child's father to become royalty so that the young woman could meet and marry a prince.

It was not long before a Prince, the Father could not arrange for him to be handsome too, noticed the lovely young woman and sought her to be his wife. Now the girl loved the Prince and consented to become his wife. Maybe it was because she could see how her position as a princess would help her to take care of more children, or maybe it was because that is what girls do, marry. She moved to the palace with her Prince and set about making him and his subjects happy. She soon was a favorite of the people of his kingdom, as it was not difficult to see that she had much love for the people of this world, especially the children.

It only should follow then that she bear children and give the kingdom little princes of it's own to love. Her happiness should indeed have been complete, but incidents, one after another, kept bringing sadness to her life. She tried and tried but was unable to make her Prince love only her. She did all the things a royal princess should do more beautifully than it was ever done before. She traveled the world making friends for her new family and showing kindness to those in need those who were ill. She raised money to further special causes that would make life better for the people of the world.

Still her prince loved another. She pleaded with him to make their sons proud of their marriage so that they could grow up to be confident rulers themselves someday. She cried and cried inside, but on the outside the world saw only the love she offered it. Only in the darkness of her room did she ask her heavenly Father why she could not be all her Prince needed. The answers did not come.

Alone among royalty and that which was new to her she felt isolated and unloved. She felt like a stranger among the royal family and the Prince did nothing to make her feel like she belonged. She accepted kindness and attentions from others. Others who also only wanted her for the outward beauty with which she was so blessed, failing to see the special gift she carried that was given to her by her heavenly Father.

Finally she let her Prince go to his other love and set out to make a life for herself and her sons. The Princess, hounded by those who would do and say anything about her in order to make money, tried unsuccessfully time after time to find someone to see inside her heart to the sweetness that came from Heaven. They did not see. The children of the world could see. The ill in spirit and body could see. But the princes of the world could not see.

Up in Heaven, the angels again went to the Father of the world to discuss the saddened princess. They pleaded with Him to bring her home so that they could love her and bring her back to happiness. They told Him that they felt the princes of the world would only crush her spirit and they could not bear to watch it and not be able to do anything for her.

The Father gently said to the angels, "I knew that this little soul would not be able to make the whole world see it's beauty. Sometimes no matter what a soul does the world blind to it's beauty. There are many souls there trying to do good for the world, yet the world cannot see their value. I knew that the unhappiness in the world would be too much for this tender little soul to bear. I will bring her home for us to love again."

The angels in Heaven were all waiting at the Pearly Gate when Princess Diana arrived yesterday. The Holy Mother enfolded her in her arms and whispered that she had indeed lightened Her load, and that through her kindness on earth, the people of the Earth will remember that they are to love the children as you do. And the people of the world DID see, and they were sorry that they had not been more protective of their benefactor when she had walked among them. The whole world mourned the lovely Princess Diana.

The Father of the world summoned the soul Diana and said, "What did you learn, my child?" "Dearest Father, I learned that stories of happiness and love cannot come true until all the souls on the Earth feel love in their heart and rid themselves of indifference and selfishness."

"Welcome home, my child," said the Father. "Now they see."
