Otter Creek in Otter Creek Wilderness, West Virginia

This image of Otter Creek was taken on an October morning as the fog had begun to dissipate. Otter Creek flows through the Otter Creek Wilderness in the Monongahela National Forest in West Virginia. I consider it as beautiful a mountain stream as I have ever seen. A wonderful trail runs between the headwaters of the creek a few miles off of US Route 33 to the mouth of the creek on the Dry Fork River which can accessed from WV Route 72. It primarily follows the bed of an old logging railroad is not particularly strenous. The trail is approximately twelve miles long and requires three stream crossings which are difficult to impossible in periods of high water.
